Studia Medievalia Bohemica

The journal Studia mediaevalia Bohemica is devoted to interdisciplinary research on the Middle Ages, to fostering cross-disciplinary discussion, and to providing information on current Central European scholarly literature. Since its inception, the journal has been peer-reviewed. It is open to a wide range of approaches addressing various aspects of medieval history, with particular emphasis on Central Europe and from the perspectives of different medievalist disciplines (history, archaeology, art history, auxiliary historical sciences, and others). In this sense, the journal provides a shared platform for the interaction of diverse approaches to medieval history. An important contribution of the periodical is its effort to regularly survey significant medievalist scholarship across multiple disciplines; these sections aim to cover Bohemical scholarship while also selectively reporting on inspiring works from abroad.

About the Journal

The journal was founded in 2009 and is listed among peer-reviewed non-impact journals. It therefore follows the prescribed standards: all studies undergo double-blind peer review, and contributions written in Czech or Slovak are accompanied by an English abstract. Moreover, more than half of the journal’s content consists of articles based on original research; the proportion of published studies does not exceed 70 percent of the manuscripts submitted to the editorial office; and the journal maintains its own website containing all relevant information. In accordance with the requirements for inclusion in the list of peer-reviewed non-impact journals, more than half of the editorial board consists of external members (i.e., members who are not employees of the publisher). The section “Articles and Studies” publishes only original scholarly or review articles
