The first part of the publication is devoted to encounters between Christianity and pagan cults, as well as to the history of buildings and their founders. The second part focuses on monasteries, while the final section presents the world of medieval saints, ecclesiastical dignitaries, and sacred objects. The book seeks new ways of understanding the life of medieval society and aims to populate history with living individuals.
Writing about Christianity, its influence on the formation of European society, and its encounters with other cultures is nothing new; at the same time, however, it is a subject that can never be exhausted and one that will continue to inspire further discussion.
